ROHM Launches 0.33 W SDR01 Anti-Surge Resistors in 0402 Size

ROHM launches SDR01 anti-surge chip resistors with a 0.33 W rating in 0402 size, full rated power to 125°C and ±100 ppm/°C TCR.

Uploaded image ROHM has introduced the SDR01 series of high anti-surge chip resistors, delivering a rated power of 0.33 W in the 0402 (1005 metric) size. The company describes this as a class-leading power rating for the package size as of September 2026.

The new resistors are intended for power supply and control circuits where board space is limited but higher power handling and surge resistance are required. ROHM is targeting automotive, industrial and consumer electronics, as well as AI server applications.

0.33 W Rating up to 125°C

ROHM developed the SDR01 series by optimizing the resistive element and electrode designs. The resulting 0.33 W rating is guaranteed up to a rated terminal temperature of 125°C. Putting this power rating into an 0402 package gives designers the option of replacing larger resistors in space-constrained designs. Depending on the circuit requirements, ROHM also sees the potential to consolidate multiple resistors where a higher individual power rating is needed.

The anti-surge construction is intended for circuits where resistors can be exposed to transient events, including power supply circuits and areas around interfaces where surge and ESD resistance are required.

Resistance Stability Across Temperature

Alongside its higher power handling, the SDR01 series has a specified temperature coefficient of resistance of ±100 ppm/°C across resistance values from 10 Ω to 2.2 MΩ. The figure applies to F-class devices with a ±1% resistance tolerance.

TCR describes the change in resistance as temperature varies, making it an important consideration where a circuit needs to maintain a relatively stable resistance value across its operating temperature range.

The combination of the 0402 footprint, 0.33 W rated power and ±100 ppm/°C TCR gives the SDR01 series a broad range of potential uses in compact power supply and control circuits. ROHM specifically identifies automotive, industrial and consumer equipment as target applications.

Mass production of the SDR01 series has begun, and the resistors are available now.
